You’re working hard this week; you deserve a cocktail. This aperitivi is inspired by Mark Schatzker’s trip to Milan. 

Here’s how to make your own:

Negroni

  1.5 oz. gin

1.5 oz. sweet vermouth

1.5 oz. Campari

Pour the ingredients into an old-fashioned glass over ice; garnish with an orange peel.

Our deputy editor just sent us this photo from his hotel in Budapest, with this note: “The building across the Danube is the Royal Palace. In the early morning, when the sun begins to rise, all the buildings on the Buda side are so orange with the light, they look like they’re burning.”
